Hot Work

Training to spark a safer workplace.

What is the course?

This 4 hour course focuses on the the legal requirements of employers and supervisors to protect workers that perform hot work. This work includes any that is likely to produce heat, spark or flame.

The course will speak to hazards and controls, with an emphasis on the hot work program. Participants will also learn about the permit system.

What will it teach?
Who is it for?

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify legal requirements for hot work

  • Identify components in a hot work program

  • Identify hot work hazards

  • Choose appropriate controls for the hazards identified

  • Complete a hot work permit

This course is primarily designed for but not limited to:

  • Supervisors that oversee workers who engage in hot work

  • Workers who perform hot work

Note:

Common hot work activities include: welding, grinding and cutting metal. If you or your workers perform these activities, a hot work program complete with a permit system is required.
