Certain training certifications, including eligible CPO-approved programmes, are issued to individual workers rather than their employers. These certifications may remain valid when a worker changes jobs, provided the applicable validity and refresher requirements are met.
However, a new employer may still require workplace-specific instruction, additional training or reassessment based on the hazards and equipment involved.
Each Achieve Safety course page provides information about the training content, learning objectives and delivery format.

Working at Heights is a Chief Prevention Officer (CPO)-approved training programme designed to meet Ontario's requirements for workers who use specified fall protection systems on construction projects.
Industrial Fall Protection training focuses on identifying fall hazards and selecting, inspecting, using and maintaining fall protection equipment in industrial workplaces.
Although the legal requirements differ between construction and industrial settings, Working at Heights training can provide valuable knowledge for workers in various industries. Employers must still ensure that workers receive the training and instruction required for their specific workplace.
Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) establishes different requirements for worker awareness training, supervisor awareness training and Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) certification.
Most workers and supervisors must complete basic occupational health and safety awareness training, subject to applicable exemptions.
Workplaces that regularly employ 20 or more workers generally require a JHSC, although certain workplaces have different requirements. Where JHSC certification is required, at least two committee members must be certified, with one representing workers and the other representing management.
Achieve Safety can help employers identify the training appropriate for their workplace.
The most relevant courses depend on the hazards, equipment and work activities involved.
For construction workers, common training programmes include Working at Heights, Elevating Work Platforms, Confined Space Awareness, Traffic Control (Book 7), Lockout/Tagout and Telehandler training.
For manufacturing, warehousing and industrial workplaces, relevant courses may include Forklift, Pallet Walkie, Ladder Safety, Elevating Work Platforms, Confined Space Awareness and Lockout/Tagout training.

Some courses require participants to complete prerequisite training before enrolling.
Refresher programmes, such as Working at Heights Refresher and JHSC Refresher, have specific eligibility requirements based on previous certification and applicable programme rules.
Contact our team before booking if you are unsure whether your previous training qualifies you for a refresher course.
Refresher training requirements vary by course, workplace hazards and applicable legislation.
Some certifications have specific renewal periods. For example, Ontario's CPO-approved Working at Heights training has a three-year validity period for the applicable construction requirements.
WHMIS training does not have a universal certificate expiry date. However, employers must review their WHMIS education and training programmes at least annually and provide additional instruction when necessary.
For other courses, employers should determine refresher training needs based on regulatory requirements, workplace changes, employee competency and equipment or hazard exposure.
